Terminology

1.) Gospel- the teachings of Jesus and the apostles

2,) Gospel music- musical genre characterized by dominant vocals (often with strong use of harmony) referencing lyrics of a religious nature, particularly Christian

3.)Spirituals-of, pertaining to, or consisting of spirit

4.) Harmony-any simultaneous combination of tones

5.) Religion- a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs

6.) Hymns- A song of praise or thanksgiving to God or a deity.

7.) Tambourine- A percussion instrument consisting of a small drumhead with jingling disks fitted into the rim, usually played by shaking and striking with the hand

8.) Genre- a class or category of artistic endeavor

9.) Choir- a company of singers, esp. an organized group employed in church service

10.) Unison-coincidence in pitch of two or more musical tones, voices

11.) Organ- a musical instrument consisting of one or more sets of pipes sounded by means of compressed air
